EV adoption in Cambodia is growing quickly. Over 14,000 electric vehicles were registered by early 2026, and new registrations in the first half of 2026 were up more than 150% year-on-year. Rising fuel prices, lower running costs, and government support under the 2024-2030 EV policy are driving the shift.
Public charging is still limited but expanding fast. Only around two dozen public charging locations existed nationwide in 2025, concentrated in Phnom Penh and along major routes. Operators, hotels, and property owners are now adding chargers rapidly, which is why software to manage them is in demand.
For many drivers, yes. Electricity costs far less per kilometre than petrol, maintenance is lower, and more models are becoming available. The main trade-off is charging availability outside major cities, though the network is expanding quickly toward the government's 2030 targets.
